Spoiled View
When we are taking pictures out in nature, we avoid a picture with power lines and buildings. We want an unspoiled pristine view. A clear view of the mountains or the sea. We love looking at what God has made and do not want man-made stuff spoiling the view. Is it just me who wants that? The calming sound of water trickling in a brook is the same. Unspoiled nature has an effect on us.
God had a magnificent view in the garden. Nothing in the garden was spoiled. The view was grand! All of His creation and the pinnacle His creation – Adam and Eve. We are the pinnacle. Psalm 8:5-6 ‘Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;’
What God has made was perfect. Then satan enters the garden, and soon, the disobedience of Adam and Eve occurs. At that point the view in the garden was spoiled. But God knew this would happen. He had made a plan. That plan was from the beginning – before the ages began. For those who lived before the cross of Christ, it was a belief in what He ‘would do’. Then For us who are on this side of the cross, it is a belief in what He ‘did’ at the Cross.
It was a mystery. Paul said, ‘the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints…’ Col. 1:25-26. We now know Christ can change the view God has of us. He wants to change us daily into the image of Christ. I know what I am about to say is just a slight stretch, but think of it this way. When God decided that Jesus would come to earth to give us an opportunity to respond to His offer of life abundant and eternal, God gave Himself the ability to look at us with an unspoiled view. For those of us that are His and have accepted the offer, we are now an unspoiled view. He sees us as if our sin had never happened. He has thrown our sin away. ‘For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:11-12.
He now sees us differently and unspoiled. Do we see ourselves as He sees us?
