Peering Through Murky Water – People in the Murkiness (Part Two)

What we don’t know about Him can hurt us, and others. As you get to know Him, you can and will venture out. You will meet people who just do not want to know Him, and couldn’t care less about your God and your faith in Him. We all know people like this. Their physical eyes are open and they are involved in life. But their spiritual eyes are closed. We wonder if they will ever get a glimpse of Him–and if they do, will they ever turn to Him? They may, and they may not. We just don’t know. But I do know this – they are getting a glimpse of you.

In the following scripture, Jesus was answering the question: ‘why do You speak to them in parables?’

“To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:

“You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.”
For this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed,
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them.’
But blessed are your eyes, for they see,
and your ears, for they hear.
For truly, I say to you, many prophets
and righteous people longed to see what
you see, and did not see it, and to hear
what you hear, and did not hear it.” Matthew 13:11-17

I don’t know why some people have their ears and eyes open and some do not. Only God knows who will respond. It is not our job to know. It is our job to love. To go, and to love. The murkiness of the water makes us nervous. What if there is a predator? There is. The enemy will want to stop you from ‘going’ in any way He can. Remember last week, he may ask to ‘sift’ you. But Christ will carry you through it. Jesus is praying for you. As you venture further out, think about this: “But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.” Jude 20-23. (Italics mine).

We don’t know who is part of the Matthew passage and who is part of the Jude passage.

God does.

You can a make difference in the lives of others. Who is the Spirit leading you to invest in?
